#10 thread, size 1 hook

These are "cozies" to put a glass ball Christmas ornament into.

Starting center ch 2. In second chain from hook (the first one made), make 9 sc, sl to join

Rnd 1: Ch 4 for first dc and first ch-1, dc in sc, (ch 1, dc in sc) 8 times, ch 1, join with sl st in 3rd ch of ch-4.

Rnd 2: Chain 4, sc on top of first dc, continue around (ch 4, sc on dc), sl st to join

Rnd 3: 2 sl to center of loop, sc on loop, chain 5, sc on next loop. Continue (ch 5, sc on next loop) around.

Rnd 4: Repeat round 3

Rnd 5: 2 sl to center of loop, sc on loop, chain 6, sc on next loop. Continue (ch 6, sc on next loop) around.

Rnd 6 - 8: Repeat round 5

Rnd 9: Repeat round 3

Rnd 10: Repeat round 3, decreasing chain to 4. Finish off.

Put the cozy over the ornament occasionally to judge your progress. If you are approaching the diameter of the ball after Round 3, skip Round 4. If you are significantly less than the diameter of the ball after Round 5, increase to chain 7 (or more) for rounds 6 - 8.

If the cozy is not long enough, add additional rows 6 - 8 as necessary.

Use a ribbon or make a crochet chain 3 - 4 inches long. Weave it back and forth in last round.  Put the cozy over the ball, and knot the string to attach cozy to ball.
