These snowflakes have no ch's between the loop work on round 3, so they stay flat and have an internal support. The pictured snowflakes were done with beads and sterling silver wire, and a size 7 steel hook. The blue-beaded one is 3" across. The silver beaded one is about 2 ½ inches across.

Most people work with more traditional materials… like white or irrideschent crochet thread and a size "0" or "1" steel crochet hook .

Chain 9. Sl st to join.

Round 1: Chain 5 (counts as first treble and 1st chain-1). Treble into loop, chain 2. (Treble, chain 1, treble, chain 2) five times. (12 tr.)

Round 2: (Chain 3, sc over tr, ch-9, sc over treble) six times.

Round 3: (Sc, chain 3, sc) in each chain-3 loop. (Sc, chain 3, sc, chain 5, sc, chain 3, sc) in each chain-9 loop around.

Finish off.
